The security service of Ukraine during the quarantine identified 154 agitators who spread false information about the coronavirus and blocked 2,000 of the affected online communities.
It is reported by the SBU press center.
“During the quarantine period due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Security Service of Ukraine identified 154 agitators who distributed counterfeits on the coronavirus. The SBU also blocked more than 2,000 online communities relevant with a total audience of more than 700,000 subscribers, “the statement said.
It should be noted that cyber specialties of the special services constantly analyze the Internet content of similar subjects, which is mainly distributed from the Russian information space. It aims to create an artificial panic or calls for the violation of quarantine conditions.
In particular, among the 154 people identified, the Service has already installed 8 Internet agitators which have deliberately acted on the instructions of the Russian side.
As added to the SBU, these agitators have worked in Odessa, Dnipro, Lviv, Kherson and Kiev. According to them, the SBU investigators have started criminal proceedings under articles 109 and 110 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code. That is, for actions aimed at forcibly modifying or overturning the constitutional order or taking over state power, as well as encroaching on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine.

Information on 146 other people was sent to the national police. A third of them have already been found administratively responsible for spreading false rumors that could cause panic or disruption of public order.
As noted, the President of the Security Service, Ivan Bakanov, has submitted proposals to the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine for proposals to extend the sanctions against the Russian social networks Odnoklassniki and VKontakte for a further 3 years.
“Counterfeits in countries of sustainable democracy are assimilated to weapons of mass destruction. A hybrid war continues against Ukraine and we continue to resist information attacks by the Russian Federation. Therefore, the extension of sanctions makes sense: it will protect our citizens from forgery and manipulation, and as a result, we will maintain the security of the state as a whole, “said the head of the SBU.
