SBU should keep effective anti-corruption tools after reform – Pun
After the reform, the SBU should retain effective tools to fight corruption, which is often used as part of a hybrid war against Ukraine.
This opinion was expressed by the deputy chief of reform of the security service of Ukraine, Sergey Pun, indicates the website of the service.
“Corruption is, in particular, one of the threats to national security and part of a hybrid war against Ukraine. After all, the Russian special services (and not only them) are quite capable of using bribery tools for their own ends, ”said Pun.
He gave an example of active attempts by the Russian Federation to implement the “smooth federalization” project in our country. Within the framework of this project, it was planned to bribe the deputies of the local councils to take decisions on the economic autonomy of the territories.
According to Pun, the fight against such demonstrations should be comprehensive, and the SBU should use the methods of special services: “Such work is very deep and delicate. And it is of course the arrival of the Security Service. Therefore, in fact, it is not so much a corruption offense as intelligence and subversive activities. “
Therefore, according to Punia, investigations into corruption offenses should indeed be carried out by anti-corruption bodies, but questions related to state security should be left to the competence of the Service. At the same time, there must be constructive cooperation between the SBU and the anti-corruption bodies.

As noted, the “Security Services of Ukraine” bill was submitted by the President to Parliament on March 10. It contains systemic innovations which will allow Ukrainian special services to move to a qualitatively different level in their activities.
In May, the Verkhovna Rada examined the bill and referred it to committees for a second reading. Now, work on the project text continues on the basis of the BP profile committee with the participation of expert representatives from international partners and the public sector.
