How to Setup Your Gmail Account to Outlook Using IMAP?

When it comes to managing and organizing your emails, Microsoft Outlook is probably the best in the business. It not only lets you send and receive email messages, but you can also use it for various other purposes. It is one of the primary reasons why millions of users are configuring their Hotmail and Gmail accounts in MS Outlook.

Add Gmail Account to Outlook 2013

If you want to learn the process of setting up gmail in outlook 2013, here is what you will need to do. Follow these steps to add your Gmail Account to Outlook 2013 

1) Log in to your Gmail Account 

2) Click on the Settings to open the page with a gear icon

3) Now, select the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab

4) Check if IMAP is enabled. If not, you need to select the Enable IMAP option

5) Click on Save Changes

6) Now, launch Outlook 2013

7) To begin adding your Gmail account, navigate to the File tab

      • Click on Add Account

8) You need to select the Manual setup or additional server types option

9) Click Next

10) Now, Choose Service window will appear

11) You need to select the POP or IMAP option

12) Click Next

13) Another window will show up

14) You need to enter User Information, Server Information, and Logon Information

15) Under the User Information, you need to type in your name and email address

16) Under the Server information, enter the following details:

17) Your Account type should be IMAP

      • The Incoming mail server must be imap.gmail.com
      • The Outgoing mail server (SMTP) should be smtp.gmail.com

18) Now, under the Logon Information section, type in your username and password 

19) Once you have done that, go to More Settings

20) Next, give a click on the Outgoing Server tab

21) Check box that says My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication 

22) Now, choose the Use same settings as my incoming mail server option

23) In the same window, go to the Advanced tab and enter the following details:

      • The Incoming server (IMAP) should be 993 or 143
      • The Incoming server encrypted connection should be SSL
      • The Outgoing server (SMTP) should be 587 or 465
      • The Outgoing server encrypted connection should be TLS

24) Give a click on OK when you are done entering the details

25) Now, click Next

26) Click on the Close button

27) Again click Next

28) Finally, you will receive You’re all set! message

29) Click Finish

You have successfully configured your Gmail Account in Outlook. The above-mentioned steps were all you need to do for setting up Gmail in outlook 2013.
