Sheremet case: Kouzmenko extended arrest until July 24

The Kiev Pechersk court extended the preventive measure in the form of the detention of Yulia Kuzmenko, one of the suspects in the murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet.

“The petition to satisfy, extends until July 24, 2020 inclusive the duration of the preventive measure in the form of detention,” said the judge.
Earlier, the judge of the Pechersk district court Vitaly Pisantsu, who was supposed to choose a preventive measure from the doctor and volunteer Yulia Kuzmenko, his lawyer Taras Bespaly announced a challenge.
In addition, according to Bespaly, he doubts the objectivity of the automatic distribution of the case to Judge Pisants, who was to examine the request for an extension of the detention of all the accused in the case: Antonenko, Kuzmenko and Dugar.
The court dismissed Vitaliy Pisantsa.

As reported, on December 12, 2019, Home Affairs Minister Arsen Avakov announced the detention and the suspicion of the accused in connection with the murder of Sheremet.
The investigation suspects the doctor and volunteer Yulia Kuzmenko, the nurse of one of the paratrooper battalions Yana Dugar and the ATO veteran Andrei Antonenko.
On May 22, lawyer Nikolai Orekhovsky announced that the preliminary inquiry into the murder of Pavel Sheremet had ended.
On the same day, lawyer Denis Lomanov said that the defense of Yana Dugar had received a petition to modify his preventive bail measure in the amount of 168 thousand hryvnia.
