Since the beginning of June, more than 13.6 thousand people have passed through Shegini in Poland
From June 1 to 8, the Shegini-Medica checkpoint in the Lviv region passed through 13,683 people to Poland, 46.5% more than to Ukraine (7,325 people).
The press secretary of the Bieszczady department of the border guard services of the Republic of Elzhbet Pikor shared this in a comment with a correspondent for Ukrinform.
“In the software company Medica, we control six checkpoints for entry to Poland and three for exit. Sanitary and epidemiological procedures lengthen the time for checks,” said Pikor.
According to her, from June 1, at this checkpoint, more than 1.5 thousand to almost 2000 people crossed the border to enter Poland every day. Meanwhile, the border to Ukraine for the same period increased from over 300 to over 1.2 thousand people.
Pikor said that on Wednesday June 3 and Saturday June 6 there was a significant waiting time for the border crossing to Poland – up to 12 noon. She explained this by the large number of people who arrived at the border at the time and the need to respect sanitary conditions at the border.

“To cross the border with Poland, only three people can enter a special pavilion where they measure the temperature and carry out all procedures related to the pandemic,” said Pikor.
As you know, according to the Main Bureau of Statistics (GUS) of Poland, at the end of 2019, there were more than 1.3 million Ukrainian citizens on the territory of the Republic of Poland. With the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic and the closure of the borders, around 200,000 Ukrainians returned to Ukraine. Today, we observe the reverse process of returning to work in Poland.
