In the coming days, a mechanism will be fully operational in Ukraine to increase up to 300% of the wages of medical workers working directly with patients with COVID-19.
This was announced by Health Minister Maxim Stepanov during a briefing on April 25, reports a correspondent for Ukrinform.
“While we are completing and analyzing the audit of the second stage of the reform, it is necessary to take all the first steps to increase the salaries (for medical personnel – ed.). It is a proposal from the President to increase the salaries of medical personnel directly involved in the fight against coronaviruses. Yesterday, all the documents were adopted, already definitive, in the Cabinet of Ministers to increase their salaries up to 300%, and in the coming days, this mechanism will work fully, “said the minister.
At the same time, answering the question of how the Ministry of Health plans to help increase payments to all medical workers who complain that after the start of the second stage of medical reform, they have started to receive less, Stepanov replied: “Indeed, after April 1, after the start of the second stage of reform, during the audit, we receive very worrying signals about how it will affect these people. We are very concerned about this and in the near future I am sure we will find an appropriate solution to avoid this. “
According to the relevant ministry, today there are 156,000 doctors and 296,000 medical workers in the middle and lower levels in Ukraine.
As Ukrinform reported, on April 1, Ukraine launched the comprehensive medical guarantees program – a list of medical services that the state guarantees for the patient. Almost all specialized medical institutions on municipal property have signed an agreement with the NSZU.
