ELISA tests, which allow the detection of antibodies against the coronavirus, can only be launched in Ukraine after having verified the effectiveness of such a diagnosis.
This was announced by Minister of Health Maxim Stepanov during a briefing on April 26, reports a correspondent for Ukrinform.
“Regarding the massive use of ELISA tests, including Ukrainian production, it is only after one hundred percent confidence that they are reliable, that we can use them, we will start to do so” said Stepanov.

He added that ELISA tests can determine the antibodies against the causative agent of the infection in the human body, especially if the person was sick with the infection. “If we are talking about PCR tests, then this is such a gold diagnostic standard, it determines the presence of the genome directly in the human body. This is why we work with PCR test systems to diagnose coronavirus disease COVID-19 “, said Stepanov.
According to Ukrinform, the Deputy Minister of Health – the Chief Medical Officer of Health, Viktor Lyashko, said that in the near future, ELISA tests will be received in Ukraine, which show the presence or absence of immunity to the coronavirus.
