Stepanov says that in hospitals COVID-19 is treated at public expense
The state provides comprehensive treatment to patients with coronavirus, therefore, in hospitals, treatment is carried out at budget expense.
This was announced during an online briefing by Minister of Health Maxim Stepanov, reports a correspondent for Ukrinform.
“The state provides comprehensive treatment to patients with COVID-19 coronavirus. We have taken four packages for the treatment of patients with COVID-19: hospital care, emergency medical care, a separate package for mobile teams and the fourth package is hospital care for patients “were treated in April, but were treated in hospitals that were not included in support for the treatment of patients with COVID-19,” said Stepanov.
According to the minister, the cost of “packages” includes the total cost of treatment according to the list of drugs approved at the national level, as well as the salary, which provides for a surcharge of 300% for doctors. “Consequently, without exception, hospital treatment of patients with COVID-19 is entirely the responsibility of the State,” said the minister.

He assured that the process of concluding contracts with medical institutions is underway and that some of them have already spent funds for doctors to receive higher salaries. “We believe that already this week, all contracts will be concluded and all funds will be transferred directly to medical institutions,” promised Stepanov, explaining the delay in payments through the late introduction of changes to the state budget.
As Ukrinform reported, on the morning of May 17, 18,291 cases of coronavirus were registered in Ukraine, including 433 per day.
