Sternenko arrived at the SBU to take part in investigative actions
An activist, former head of the Odessa law sector, Sergei Sternenko, arrived on May 18 at the Ukrainian Security Service to participate in investigations.
According to a Ukrinform correspondent, several hundred public activists have come to the Directorate General of Investigations of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kiev and in the Kiev region at Askoldov Lane, Kiev, to support the activist.
Sternenko thanked everyone who came to support him, sang the Ukrainian anthem with them, and went with a lawyer to meet with the investigator.
As Ukrinform reported, Sternenko was called to the SBU at 9 a.m. on May 18 to report suspicions.
According to the activist, the SBU investigator in the appeal did not indicate for what type of investigative and procedural actions he was called.
On the evening of May 24, 2018, two assailants attacked Sternenko, 23, and his girlfriend. Repelling the attackers, he fatally wounded one of them with a knife in the stomach. Sternenko himself and the second attacker were both stabbed and wounded, which the police quickly arrested and immediately released, granting him witness status, and later also state custody.

According to the facts of the attacks on Sternenko, the procedural direction is currently exercised in the framework of three criminal proceedings, another indictment against the alleged aggressor has been sent to the court.
In March 2020, a number of human rights and public organizations called on law enforcement to impartially investigate the criminal case in connection with the attack on public activist Sergei Sternenko.
Earlier, Attorney General Irina Venediktova said that the investigation would in any case suspect the activist.
