Moscow investigators announced a suspicion to a group of people who, under the pretext of working abroad, recruited Ukrainians for drug trafficking in the Russian Federation.

This was reported by the press service of the national police.

“During the implementation of operational information, the capital police documented the activities of a criminal group of four who recruited residents of the Dnipropetrovsk, Nikolaev and Kharkov regions to work in the Russian Federation during for the period 2015-2016 “, indicates the press release.

As indicated, the assailants looked for victims on sites classified as people in material difficulty. They bought them train tickets to the capital, then checked the border post with the Russian Federation, where they were allegedly greeted by “employers”.

“They forced the Ukrainians to do the job that was entrusted to them. And that is the distribution of drugs, for which they were then brought to the attention of the police and are now serving sentences,” said the police.

During the preliminary investigation, with the support of border guards, the police observed that 12 people were affected by the group’s criminal activities.

From now on, accomplices, including two brothers, are under house arrest every evening.

The investigators established new facts concerning the involvement of the accused in other episodes and, therefore, with the agreement of the Kiev city prosecutor’s office, they announced suspicions of crimes under Part 3 of l ‘art. 149 of the Criminal Code (trafficking in human beings). The penalty provides for up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
