The Ministry of Health will ask for 11 billion dollars for the salaries of doctors – Stepanov
The Ministry of Health will appeal to the government and the Verkhovna Rada for an additional allocation of UA 11 billion for the salaries of medical workers.
Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said this at a briefing on May 5, reports a correspondent for Ukrinform.
“In order to increase the salaries of 435,000 doctors, it is necessary to allocate an additional 11 billion UAH. We will contact the government and then BP about the changes to the state budget. We believe that our health workers should receive a raise this year. not less than 50%, “said Stepanov.
In addition, according to Stepanov, the Ministry of Health will analyze the hospital infrastructure, work will begin on the creation of Ukrainian treatment protocols.
“On May 11, a comprehensive review of the entire medical infrastructure will begin to determine the capacity and efficiency of the hospital network. On May 11, the Department of Health begins to develop and approve national standards for provision of medical care with the participation of scientists and leading industry experts, “said Stepanov.
After that, according to him, the Ministry of Health will develop fair tariffs, on the basis of which the industry will be funded in 2021.
“The new rates will be based on market wages for workers in the industry and high quality standards of medical services,” said Stepanov.

As noted, on April 1, Ukraine began the second phase of medical reform.
Stepanov previously stated that after the transition to a new funding system for medical facilities as part of the second phase of medical reform, 984 hospitals have a funding gap of 10% to 50%, which can lead to a reduction of health workers.
According to him, the tuberculosis medical service, psychiatric hospitals and a highly specialized medical directorate are also underfunded.
