It is only with the introduction of the ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) test, which detects antibodies against the causative agent of the disease, that it is possible to determine the exact number of asymptomatic patients with COVID -19.
This was announced during a briefing by Minister of Health Maxim Stepanov, reports a correspondent for Ukrinform.
“It is very difficult to talk about the percentage of these cases in Ukraine. Because there is no reliable information on asymptomatic behavior. This is only possible when the ELISA tests are in progress, which are currently subject to relevant exams. ELISA tests of Ukrainian origin, and we are also examining ELISA tests of foreign production, “he said.

Stepanov noted that if you look at the cases of coronavirus infection recorded in Ukraine, there are really a number of people who are completely asymptomatic of coronavirus disease. According to him, this was revealed due to the widening of the circle of people who began to be tested by PCR.
As reported, as of April 28, 9,410 cases of COVID-19 disease had been laboratory confirmed in Ukraine, or 401 new cases per day.
