The President awarded the title of hero of Ukraine to the late commander of the “Lugansk-1” battalion
Vladimir Zelensky awarded the title of hero of Ukraine by awarding the Order of the Golden Stars to police colonel Sergey Gubanov, who died defending state sovereignty and the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
According to the head of state’s website, the president signed a decree on May 21.
“We have lost the legendary commander of the Lugansk-1 battalion. Sergey Gubanov was one of those Lugansk police officers who, in the spring of 2014, did not change their oath of allegiance to Ukraine. He dreamed that a blue-yellow flag was raising Lugansk again. The day will come and this dream will come true. Eternal memory to our hero! ”- said the President of Ukraine.
