The prosecutor in the case of activist Sergei Sternenko has filed a request to change the address in order to take preventive action.

This was reported by a Telegram activist.

“The investigator called. The prosecutor filed a request to change the address from the place of house arrest from the registration to the address of residence. It is not known what prevented this from happening immediately. Yesterday, the prosecutor simply fled, saying he was satisfied, “he wrote.

The activist noted that this only means a change of address, but the preventive measure itself will not change.

“It means the preventive measure won’t change now. They’ll just correct the address, and that’s it. And I’ll be imprisoned. Let me know as soon as there are details about the meeting. And then there will be a call. Where are we going to request the cancellation of the preventive measure, “he noted.

Sternenko wrote a little later that the prosecutor’s request review meeting would be held today June 16.

“The meeting was scheduled for 10 am. That is, 50 minutes after notifying me of the meeting. I just don’t have time to get there physically. It is also impossible, being given that I cannot move around without security. Therefore, I do not ask you to go there. Because I will not go either. My lawyers are on duty near the court, “he wrote.

Sternenko also said the case would be considered by judge Elena Meleshak, who is known to have unlawfully released from prison a former Interior Ministry officer convicted of the death of a 2-year-old child.

As Ukrinform reported, on June 15, the Shevchenkovsky District Court in Kiev chose Sternenko as a measure of restraint in the form of a house arrest. At the same time, according to the activist, the place of residence under house arrest in the court decision indicates “the military unit of Odessa”, instead of registration, but he “is not allowed to stay there surrender, as this is a sensitive establishment. “

“This decision cannot be implemented,” said the activist, and noted that due to his non-compliance, prosecutors can then “request detention”.

Late in the evening, the activist said that the head of the Shevchenkovsky court had personally promised that a review of the court decision in his case would take place.

On June 11, Sternenko declared suspected of having committed crimes under art. 115 h.1 (intentional and unlawful infliction of death on another person) and art. 263 para. 2 (transport of cold steel without the authorization provided for by law) of the Criminal Code.

On the evening of May 24, 2018, two assailants attacked Sternenko and his girlfriend. While pushing back, the activist fatally wounded one of them with a knife in the stomach. Sternenko himself and the second attacker were both stabbed and stabbed by the police, but immediately released, immediately granted witness status and state protection.
