This was announced by the chairman of the committee Alexander Tkachenko (faction of the “Servant of the People” party) on Facebook.

“Discussed published images of child abuse in the film directed by Ilya Khrzhanovsky” DAU. Degeneration. “It’s a story” on the brink “, and the staff is astounding. Therefore, our committee decided to contact the police. We want to verify the facts of involving young children in types of shots. We also need to understand what harm this fact could do to children, “Tkachenko noted.

The deputy believes that any manifestation of inhuman cruelty, even in a work of art, can lead to the popularization of such actions.

“We believe that the director cannot be linked to the activities of the Babi Yar Holocaust Memorial Center. Such acts of professional activity are contrary to the ideology of the center, which is to protect the universal values and the inadmissibility of all the violence that Babi Yar symbolizes, “said Tkachenko. .

Degeneration” recorded criminal proceedings for the torture, as well as the production or distribution of works which promote the cult of violence (part 2 of article 127, part 3 Article 300 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code). Russian director Ilya Khrzhanovsky became artistic director of the Babi Yar Holocaust Memorial Center in Kiev at the end of 2019.

The group worked on the film “Dow”, which was known before this scandal due to the long and unusual filming process and frank scenes of violence, for only about 15 years (5 years in Ukraine and 8 in London – post- production). The main shoots took place in Kharkov in 2008-2011. – The Moscow Secret Research Institute was built on the territory of the former Dynamo basin.

Since April 15, certain parts of the film have been made public on the network, after which the theme of the use of children in filming and their possible abuse has been raised.

Khrzhanovsky himself assured that the children on the set were not injured and that violence was not used against them.
