The Minister of Culture and Information Policy, Alexander Tkachenko, ordered the preparation of documents at the Ministry of Finance for the full allocation of funds intended for the financing of the Dovzhenko center.

The minister announced it on Facebook following a meeting on funding for the Dovzhenko Center.

“To restore the work of the Dovzhenko Center, 8.6 million UAH are necessary. The arguments of Ivan Kozlenko concerning this amount are justified. On the one hand, the amount is based on the plans of the center for 2019, and on the other hand, due to the pandemic crisis and its complete cessation, rental income fell by 15 to 20%. For the center and its employees, the question arose of survival, of Ukrainian culture – preserving the heritage of the past and protecting the future. “said Tkachenko.

The Minister added that the budget program passport is already in preparation and will be accepted.

“As soon as we receive money from the Ministry of Finance, we will move on to defining a progressive strategy so that the center comes out of the financial crisis. I keep this question under special control, because support for cultural institutions is the “one of my priorities,” said Tkachenko.

As reported, on May 28, the Dovzhenko Center announced the start of insolvency, which arose from the fact that since the beginning of 2020, the institution has not received public funding for the budget program “Aid for State to Cinematography ”, which is due to the non-approval of the Ministry of Finance by the Ministry of Culture and Political Information of the project passport program.
