Two organizers of the “illegal DPR referendum” sentenced to 5 years in prison
The court confirmed the prosecution’s arguments and sentenced two residents to 5 years in prison for holding an illegal referendum to determine the independence of the so-called “DPR”.

“The Donetsk Court of Appeal confirmed the well-founded arguments of the Donetsk region prosecutor’s office and sentenced two residents of Shchurovo, Liman region, to 5 years in prison for violating the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine (part 2 of article 110 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code) ”, the statement said.

The court found that on May 11, 2014, a woman and a man, occupying the positions of president and vice-president of the electoral district commission, had organized an illegal referendum to determine the independence of the so-called “DPR” on the premises of one of the cafes with. In February 2020, the Krasnolimansky city court found these people guilty of a crime and sentenced to 5 years in prison with a 2-year trial period. The prosecutor disagreed with the verdict and appealed against the judgment to the court of appeal.

According to the prosecution, in May 2020, 14 people were prosecuted for violation of the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine (part 1.2 of article 110 of the Criminal Code), including 2 deputies.
