Ukraine already has 17 days on the “plateau” of the incidence of COVID-19 – Lyashko
Ukraine has now reached a “plateau” regarding the incidence of COVID-19, which peaked retrospectively on April 17.
About it in an interview with Today, said the Deputy Minister of Health, chief medical officer of health Viktor Lyashko.
“There is no growth peak, that is to say that we have been on the plateau for 17 days. This is our objective, which we wanted to achieve by introducing quarantine so that there have no rapid growth and balance without simultaneous workload and hospitalization of patients, “said Lyashko.
According to him, Ukrainian experts predicted the maximum incidence rate on April 14 – according to estimates, at that time in Ukraine, there could already be 41 thousand patients.

“But we introduced quarantine in advance, if we take a retrospective dynamic and we will not have additional growth, then we have already reached the peak on April 17,” said Lyashko.
He noted that in the past two weeks, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 has fluctuated between 350 and 550 cases per day and that there is no tendency to decrease in incidence.

However, according to him, since April 29, the incidence has increased in the Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkov and Odessa regions. At the same time, for 100,000 people, the majority of cases are in the region of Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopol and Rivne.
According to the deputy minister, 26,585 patients infected with a coronavirus can be accommodated in medical structures of the so-called first wave.
Lyashko noted that stabilization of the process and a gradual decrease in the number of cases of coronavirus are possible provided that Ukraine does not give up quarantine measures prematurely.
As reported by Ukrinform, 13,184 cases of COVID-19 coronavirus were recorded in Ukraine, including 487 per day.
