Most Ukrainian retirees with pensions below 5,000 hryvnia, already receive additional aid in the amount of 1000 hryvnia.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denis Shmygal at a traditional meeting chaired by President Vladimir Zelensky on preventing the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic, reports a correspondent for Ukrinform.
According to the head of government, the majority of pensioners with a pension of less than 5,000 hryvnia have already received money on a bank card, and for the rest, Ukrposhta has started making home payments.
“Quarantine is a difficult period, especially for people on low incomes, for the elderly. The State should do everything to support these people in a difficult period. Helping vulnerable categories of citizens is now one of the most important responsibilities of the authorities, “said the president.

As reported by Ukrinform, President Vladimir Zelensky announced in a video message on March 16 that citizens who receive a pension of less than 5,000 hryvnia should receive an additional 1,000 hryvnia.
On April 13, the Verkhovna Rada adopted amendments to the state budget for 2020. The Minister of Social Policy, Marina Lazebnaya, said that the decision of the parliament allows to send more than 10 billion hryvnia to pay a lump sum of 1,000 hryvnia to more than 10.6 million people.
