Ukrainian political prisoner in Russia Viktor Shur said in a letter about his state of health, a visit to the Ukrainian consul and that letters from Western countries had stopped reaching him.

“Everything is fine for me, everything is fine for health, the bronchitis has been treated. I sit down and draw (the letter is written on the back of the image – editor’s note), I read books, newspapers, I watch television during my free time, ”writes Shur.

According to him, in February, the Ukrainian consul came to him, they talked for three hours. The political prisoner, in particular, signed the documents necessary for the allocation of material assistance.

In turn, Tatyana Lazda told Ukrinform that she had written letters to a political prisoner several times in the past six months. At the same time, she said, this last letter from Shur arrived in an unsealed envelope.

This letter was sent more than three weeks ago on April 30, so some information may be out of date.

Recall that at the end of last year, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada, Lyudmila Denisova, reported a deterioration in the health of the Kremlin political prisoner, Viktor Shur, as well as the fact that he sought medical help, but did not receive it. In this regard, Denisova contacted the Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova asking him to take action and provide the necessary treatment to Shur.

As reported by Ukrinform, Viktor Shur was arrested in late 2014 by the FSB of the Russian Federation. In 2015, the Bryansk Regional Court sentenced Viktor Shur, a Russian citizen, to 12 years in a maximum security penal colony under article 275 of the Criminal Code (treason in the form of espionage). The Memorial Human Rights Center recognized Shur as a political prisoner.

In 2016 Viktor Shur obtained Ukrainian citizenship.
