The border guards are waiting for 200,000 Ukrainian citizens who will return for Easter.
This was declared by the president of the state border services, Sergey Deineko, on the air of the television channel 1 + 1, reports a correspondent of Ukrinform.
“In all areas accessible to Ukrainian citizens, around 160,000 citizens have already returned from abroad. According to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, around 17,000 Ukrainians have so far announced their intention to return to Ukrainian territory. Of course, they are not all citizens. We hope that on the eve of Easter, around 200,000 of our citizens will be able to return, ”he said.

Regarding queues at the Polish border, Deineko noted that the problem was not with the Ukrainian border guards, but that the queues were piling up on the Polish side. The most active day – March 27, 22,000 citizens entered Poland from Ukraine. Usually this figure is around 4,000 people per day. Currently, no Ukrainians cross the national border on foot, said Deineko.

As reported, on March 26, the SPSU carried out more than 27,000 border crossing operations, both for entry and exit. More than 18,000 Ukrainian citizens have returned from abroad. The greatest number of people accumulated on the Polish site at the checkpoints of Jagodin, Krakovec and Rava Russkaya. An even larger influx at the border took place the next day.
On March 26, President Vladimir Zelensky said in a video message that Ukraine will completely close the national border for entry and exit by the end of March 27 due to the spread of infection coronavirus. According to him, passenger traffic with foreign countries will be completely interrupted. Ukrainian citizens who will stay abroad will be looked after by Ukrainian diplomatic missions and diasporas.
According to the Center for Public Health, at 10:00 a.m. on March 31 in Ukraine, 549 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 13 were fatal, 8 patients recovered. 69 new cases were registered per day.
According to Worldometer, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide is 823,200 people, including 40,633 deaths, 174,333 people recovered.
