The Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Irina Venediktova, said that the case against radical activist Sergei Sternenko could lead to large-scale protests in Ukraine. She is sure that, despite this, Sternenko must be legally responsible for the murder of a person.
It is reported by the “MFN”, with reference to ZIK channel air.
Venedektova explained that the Sternenko affair consists of two important aspects. On the one hand, an indisputable fact of real murder, and on the other hand, an attempt at perpetuity. The Attorney General believes that this case should be examined on the basis of these two factors, although the examination has shown that the killings can be prevented, and Sternenko has shown excessive aggression.
Venediktova points out that the process of settling the Sternenko case can lead to mass protests. It takes this into account, but states that these risks will not affect the work of investigators and prosecutors.
“Sternenko’s supporters will in any case be unhappy with the court’s decision. This situation can lead to mass protests, optionally, this can be done in order to shake up the public,” she said.
