Vladimir Pozner, 86, has become the new guest of the Gordon Visiting Youtube program. In a conversation with Ukrainian journalist Dmitry Gordon, the TV presenter spoke about his fight against prostate cancer, which began in 1993. Posner then lived and worked in America.
It seems that I have entered a brick wall. In other words, a stroke of such force that it is even difficult to describe. And, of course, the thought that everything – life is over,
– Pozner described the first emotions of his diagnosis.
After the operation, carried out by the famous doctor Patrick Welch, the disease receded. And for 20 years after that, he did not make himself felt, but in 2014, rectal cancer was discovered in Pozner.
The doctor said the neoplasm was close to the sphincter. During the second operation, the sphincter should be removed, and for the rest of my life, I should go with a bag on my belt. I told her I had a wonderful life and I wouldn’t live like that, just leave
– admitted Vladimir Vladimirovich.
The journalist did not immediately accept the operation, but decided to consult other specialists. He turned to doctors from the United States, Israel, France, Great Britain and Germany. In the end, the choice fell on the German surgeon.
I had second degree cancer and it left me with a sphincter. It was a local operation. I was not cut. The second time – it was a more difficult case. I was already soaked and determined to fight. If there is no other, then I will not live like this,
– pointed out Pozner in an interview.
At the beginning, after the operation, he underwent examinations every three months, then every six months, and now he is tested once a year.
During the interview, the journalist also explained how his self-isolation takes place. According to him, he strictly observes all safety precautions, absent from work only once a week. The presenter noted that there was no significant change in his usual life, since he often works from home.
I prepare my program at home and on Monday I will be in Ostankino. There is no major difference between my ordinary life and this one,
– he noted.

The reporter also noted that he had started to find time to read.
As a hungry person, I have read three books at a time, which is very strange to me. I don’t usually do this and – moreover – I condemn the people who do it, but apparently such hunger formed by reading,
– summed up Posner.
