Water situation in Ukraine could worsen – NSDC
The task force, chaired by NSDC deputy secretary Alexey Solovyov, examined the state of surface water bodies in the country and discussed predictive indicators of the availability of surface water resources for the population and sectors of the Ukrainian economy during the current year.

“In mid-June, the hydrological situation of most of Ukraine’s rivers improved and its future development will depend on the precipitation regime and its quantity. However, taking into account long-term trends, the probability of the formation of periods of low water availability in summer – in autumn with possible negative consequences for different sectors of the economy, population and environment does not disappear Says the report.
As noted, meeting participants focused on the need to step up the updating and replacement of damaged water and drainage systems, introduce new technologies, rebuild water treatment plants potable water and wastewater treatment facilities, introduce new laboratory equipment, etc.

The meeting also discussed the introduction of the national register of artesian wells and its initial filling. In addition to filling out the register, information on the geospatial location of these wells will be loaded into an interactive map and synchronized with the public cadastral map of Ukraine, meeting participants said. Their inventory and accounting will allow this information to be used to identify potential sources of water supply for the population when planning regional development.
