Epidemic governments force the world to take unprecedented action
Due to the fact that the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 an epidemic, countries had to impose several restrictions. To slow the spread of the virus, many of them closed their borders and declared quarantine. Pespace magazine Global has gathered information on measures taken by governments around the world to limit the spread of coronovirus.
On 15 March, the Australian Government announced that all travelers arriving in the country would remain self-insulated for 14 days. Later on 19 March, it was announced that Australia would close its borders to all tourists. At the same time, Australians and their close family members will be able to enter the country, despite quarantine restrictions.
In early January 23, China shut down Wuhan and other cities in Hubei province to isolate the outbreak site of coronavirus. International travelers arriving in Wuhan had to undergo a 14-day quarantine.
As the number of infected people has been decreasing recently, the government has started gradually reducing the rules and restrictions.
