WHO warns of dangerous new phase of coronavirus spread
The world has entered a dangerous new phase in the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus disease amidst the aspirations of countries to restore economic and social activity and to weaken restrictive measures.
This was stated by the director general of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhan Gebreesus, DW reports.
“But the virus continues to spread quickly. As in the past, this leads to death and most people are vulnerable, “he added.
According to him, until June 18, WHO has received data on more than 150,000 new cases of coronavirus, which have become a record indicator since the start of the pandemic. Gebreesus noted that about half of these cases occur in North and South America and that the pandemic continues to spread actively in South Asia and the Middle East.
“We urge all countries and all peoples to be extremely vigilant. Continue to keep your distance, stay at home if you feel unwell and continue to wear masks if necessary and wash your hands, ”said the Director-General of WHO.
