The defense of Yana Dugar, suspected in the murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet, received a petition to modify his preventive bail measure in the amount of 168,000 hryvnia.

This was announced on Facebook by defender Dugar Denis Lomanov.

“Today, unexpectedly, a notice was issued regarding the completion of the preliminary inquiry and the opening of the preliminary inquiry documents in the so-called Sheremet case. A request has also been made to amend the preventive bail measure, according to which the prosecution asked to determine a bond in the amount of 80 NMDG, or 168,000 hryvnia, “he wrote.

Lomanov also noted that the defense had gathered compelling evidence of Dugar’s innocence.

As indicated, Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov announced on December 12, 2019 the detention and the suspicion of the accused in the case of the murder of Sheremet. In particular, the investigation suspects the doctor and volunteer Yulia Kuzmenko, the nurse of one of the paratrooper battalions Yan Dugar and the ATO veteran Andrei Antonenko.

Kuzmenko and Antonenko are now in prison. Dugar was elected as a preventive measure in the form of a night arrest.

On May 21, lawyer Leonid Maslov said that the investigation into the murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet had changed the suspicions of Antonenko and Kuzmenko. Subsequently, the media reported that Dugar had also changed the suspicion.

On May 22, another lawyer for Dugar, Nikolai Orekhovsky, said that the preliminary investigation into the murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet was finished.

Journalist Pavel Sheremet died on July 20, 2016 in Kiev following a car explosion.
