Mitigation of the current quarantine regime is possible after April 24, if, due to citizens’ self-isolation, there will not be a large wave of coronavirus infection.
This was stated by President Vladimir Zelensky on the program “Savik Shuster Freedom of Expression”, reports a correspondent for Ukrinform.
“Now it all depends on the people … Our quarantine is not yet difficult. I am sure that everything is very democratic with us – nobody knocks on the doors of houses, nobody beats nobody, nobody comes home by force. If self-isolation … if people take all quarantine measures, I’m sure we can defeat the coronavirus normally, “said Zelensky.
The head of state added that the current quarantine regime will last until April 24 and that after that he will communicate with the government with the public on this matter.
“People will understand which quarantine measures will be reduced, because part of the population will have to be sent back to work, part of the sectors that are very important to us will open up, and part could be reduced in May as regards transport. Such things will happen if there is not a very large wave (infection – ed.). It all depends on the wave, and we have to talk about it calmly and honestly … Therefore, Easter is only at home, “concluded the president.
As Ukrinform reported, since March 12, Ukraine has introduced quarantine in educational institutions and a number of other measures to control the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection. Then the quarantine was extended until April 24.
