After the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted at first reading the “banking” bill, also called “anti-Colomian”, many began to talk about the fact that President Vladimir Zelensky had opposed the oligarch Igor Kolomoisky. But journalist and editor-in-chief of Novoye Vremya Vitaly Sych believes that “there is no Zelensky victory over Kolomoisky.”
This is reported by the NPF, referring to Facebook-page of a journalist.
NV editor-in-chief Vitaly Sych believes that in reality there is no victory for Zelensky over the oligarch Igor Kolomoyskm. Sych notes that Zelensky has avoided confrontation with the oligarch since the start of the presidency. And the adoption by Parliament of the “anti-Colomian” bill is, according to the journalist, a necessary measure that Mr. Zelensky should have taken.
“There is no victory for the president over a persistent businessman,” the journalist wrote.
Sych stressed that without the adoption of the bill on the banks not returning to their former owners, the IMF would not provide any financial assistance to Ukraine.
“Without IMF money, the economy will fall, the national currency will fall, and maybe even default,” writes Sych.
But it is too early to speak of a victory over Kolomoisky. After all, there is still a vote at second reading for the bill. The journalist believes that at second reading, parliamentarians may not vote for the bill or “fill up with a mass of technical corrections”.
The disaster was averted. This time Ukraine needs coherent structural reforms, not an end to the situation …
