Zhovkva assured that visa-free travel to the EU due to coronavirus will not be canceled
Deputy head of President Igor Zhovkva’s office has denied rumors that Ukraine may cancel a visa-free regime with the EU due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This was reported by the PO press service.
“I have not heard any of our interlocutors say that this would become the basis for closing the border for Ukrainians or, moreover, for canceling the visa-free regime. Just as, by the way, with others, we have a regime without a visa not only with the European Union “, – said Zhovkva.
At the same time, he stressed that states will only gradually open their borders to foreigners.

At the same time, he noted that the events of the past few months have shown how a pandemic can cause the entire world to close its borders in the shortest possible time, and it will not be possible to open them quickly. According to him, this should encourage world players to introduce changes in the international relations system in order to exclude the possibility of closing the borders in the event of the next pandemic.
Zhovkva is convinced that it is now necessary to develop a new algorithm for cooperation between the European Union and the countries of the Eastern Partnership in order to overcome these challenges.
“By the way, we have proposed an initiative to quickly establish a union of neighboring countries to defeat the coronavirus in a pandemic. We have discussed it with the presidents of our neighboring countries. In other words, we must do something. Otherwise , whenever we are taken hostage by such pandemics, “said the deputy director of the PO.
